This Olympic sport is one of the most fascinating events to watch. No other competitive sport so eloquently combines the beauty and grace of dance with the agility and dexterity of gymnastic movement. Using such apparatus as a ribbon, rope, ball, hoop and clubs, Rhythmic Gymnasts perform routines by deftly throwing can catching these items as they leap, twirl, and twist through the air. So unique in style, it is the only Olympic event that uses hand apparatus in a dance-oriented gymnastic routine. In the U.S., the Illinois Center (IRGC) is the leading training facility for the sport. To date, it has produced more members and qualifiers for the U.S. National Olympic Teams than any other school in the nation. Known for its high standards, the Center attracts students from all over the United States. |
